Khan to face ring legend Barrera
Warren said Khan was "champing at the bit" for the fight
Amir Khan will meet seven-time world champion Marco Antonio Barrera on 14 March at a unspecified British venue.
The 34-year-old Mexican is a former champion at three weights and has won 64 of his 71 fights.
"It's a big fight for Amir who's been champing at the bit. It's the right fight at this stage of his career," said promoter Frank Warren.
"It'll bring out the best in him. This puts him well and truly on the world stage," he added.
Last time out in December, Khan beat Irishman Oisin Fagan in his first bout since suffering the first loss of his career - a first-round knockout at the hands of Breidis Prescott last September.
The Olympic lightweight silver medallist split from trainer Jorge Rubio after that defeat and is now guided by Freddie Roach.
Barrera, who inflicted Prince Naseem Hamed's first career defeat in 2001, won his first world title in 1995, and over the years he has faced the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales.

Who do ya think will win? I think Khan, not cuz I'm British, but because Barrera isn't what he once was and Khans speed and boxing abilty should be able to do the job

Is this all officially signed up? If so...WOW!!! I didn't expect him to fight someone as good as Barrera...I know he is old but he can still put up a decent fight!!!
I think Khan would win...because Barrera has been in sooo many wars and has taken so much punishment...it has caught up to him!
What a match-up though... I think Khan will stop Barrera but Khan will get hit a few times and get hurt...but he will get some top quality rounds for experience!

Actually I take part of that back... I said Khan would stop Barrera... I just checked on boxrec.com and looked at Barrera's past fights...not even the Pacman could stop him...and that was only in 2007...most of his losses come via 12 round UD...so Khan could be in for a longggg night!!!
I still see Khan winning this!

He's only 34 though, I think Khan's gonna struggle but he'll win it through work rate after 12 rounds. I doubt it'll be a stoppage or knockout for Khan though, possibly for Barrera if Khan loses his bearings due to pressure and the sheer skill of Barrera. It'll be a class fight though, gonna try and get tickets.

I'm gonna say Khan by stoppage in the 8th.
I know Barrera can take as much punishment as she dishes out, but Khan is naturally much much bigger than MAB. Khan will hit harder than Pacman and he has youth and speed on his side.
Aren't I biased lol

Tough to call, I don't trust Amir's chin(he was knocked down many times then knocked out quickly), and MAB's chin is legendary so even if the power and speed edge go to Amir, the chins could make the difference if this becomes a war. It depends on how each fighter gameplans.

Thats the main worry, Amir's chin. Barrera will still be able to hit with alot of power. But surely Khan's defense will be improved since he's training with Roach.
It's a hard choice

Wierd, I didn't expect this although I don't follow boxing that much anymore so I don't know who is in what shape, who they last fought, how they did etc but I will say that if MB brings it and Khan isn't prepared for a war then it will be a very bad night for Khan from what I remember of MB (warrior).
Very interesting matchup indeed.

This fight could be like the ODL vs JCC matchup. JCC got it handed to him because speed wasnt there anymore. Khan is not as good as Oscar was then but he might be too quick for MAB. If MAB is shot it will be easy of course, if not it will be damn hard.

Freddie Roach must know something about MAB or they wouldn't of taken the fight.
IMO, MAB is there to make Khan look good and have his first big name on his record. He's had too many wars now, and he's naturally smaller than Khan. Khan has the edge in every department, except expierence.

It's very risci fighting someone on this level right after changing trainer and getting koed like that. A few more easy tuneups would be a lot better, you never know what version of MAB shows up.
