Roulette is a popular casino game that originated in 18th-century France. It is played on a spinning wheel with numbered compartments and a small ball. The objective of the game is to predict the outcome of the ball's spin and place bets accordingly.
The roulette wheel consists of 36 numbered pockets colored alternately in red and black. In addition, there is a green pocket marked with a "0" (and sometimes a "00" in American roulette). The wheel is spun in one direction, while the ball is rolled in the opposite direction. Eventually, the ball loses momentum and falls into one of the numbered pockets, determining the winning number.
Players can place a variety of bets on the roulette table. There are two main categories of bets: inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets involve betting on specific numbers or small groups of numbers, while outside bets cover larger groups of numbers or characteristics such as odd/even or red/black.
